Ben & Jerry’s Reveals Mural For Colin Kapernick Prior To Upcoming Super Bowl

This week, Ben & Jerry’s revealed a vibrant mural to commemorate Colin Kaepernick as Tampa prepares for the upcoming Super Bowl.

Located in Old West Tampa, the 30 x 90-foot mural depicts a young person wearing a T-shirt with Kaepernick on it with his fist raised.

It was created in partnership with Kaepernick’s non-profit organization, artist-activist Brandan “BMike” Odums and Know Your Rights Camps (KYRC), Ben & Jerry’s. The children depicted in the artwork were “Tampa youth alongside Know Your Rights Camp (KYRC) volunteers.”

Dozens gathered at the intersection of West Main Street and Albany Street on Wednesday, which was also the third day of Black History Month, to witness the unveiling.

The artwork is intended to honor Kapernick, the company said, for his “courageous fight against police violence and systemic racism.”

The quarterback made headlines in 2016 for his controversial decision to kneel at NFL games to protest racial discrimination and police violence during the national anthem.

Ben & Jerry’s also has a billboard featuring Kaepernick to advertise its “Change the Whirled” newest ice cream flavor.
