Las Vegas Woman Faces 25 Years In Prison After Running Over And Killing Nail Salon Manager Over A $35 Manicure Bill

Krystal Whipple, 23, faces 10 to 25 years in prison for the death of a 51-year-old nail salon manager.

According to PEOPLE, Whipple tried to skip out on paying for her $35 manicure.

Whipple pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and admitted to killing nail salon manager Nhu “Annie” Ngoc Nguyen.

Since she entered a plea, she was able to avoid trial on felony charges for murder, burglary, robbery, and stealing a vehicle, the Associated Press reports.

According to authorities, in December 2018, Whipple went to the Crystal Nails & Spa to get a manicure and tried to pay her bill with a fraudulent credit card. When that didn’t work, she said she would go and get cash from her black 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, but she tried to leave without paying instead.

That’s when Nguyen ran out to stop her by jumping in front of the vehicle. Whipple accelerated the car, and the manager was “thrown under.”

Police found it at a nearby apartment complex.

Whipple was on the run for two weeks but was eventually arrested in Phoenix, Arizona.

“This event should not have happened over a bill at a nail salon,” Larry Hadfield, a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officer, told the outlet. “Over a bill in a nail salon, it is nothing to kill someone for.”
