Authorities announced the arrest of a California man wearing American flag-printed pants and smoking what appeared to be marijuana while storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6th.
According to ABC News, Eduardo Nicolas Alvear Gonzalez, of Ventura, California, was arrested in Virginia and is scheduled for a remote hearing today in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.
Gonzalez was arrested on Tuesday and charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol’s grounds.
Gonzalez was identified in court documents as “the man with the joints” in multiple videos obtained by the FBI. The criminal complaint describes Gonzalez as seen on camera lighting a joint and yelling, “It’s time to smoke weed in here” while walking around inside the Capitol’s rotunda.
