A property owner filed a lawsuit against DaBaby for allegedly assaulting him when he tried to stop the rapper’s music video.
On Monday, the owner of a Runyon Canyon vacation rental home sued DaBaby, claiming the 29-year-old assaulted him and took his phone when he attempted to put an end to an allegedly unauthorized music video shoot last year, Yahoo! Entertainment reports.
The legal document lists Gary Pagar as the plaintiff; he says he rented out the property to DaBaby, who allegedly understood that he could only use it if there were no more than 12 people at the location site abiding by COVID-19 restrictions. According to Pagar, DaBaby broke the deal he made and ended up bringing at least 40 people to the home during the shoot.
Pagar states that when he went to the home to shut it down, he was knocked to the ground by an unknown person. Pagar also claims that when DaBaby got out of a car, he chased him into the house, warned him not to call the police, and then sucker-punched him in the mouth. Pagar says DaBaby knocked out a tooth and left him bloody. Pagar, 64, also stated that he was mocked, spat on, and humiliated by people tossing his phone back and forth. “Mr. Kirk appears to think he’s a real tough guy,” the lawsuit states. “Mr. Kirk is wrong.”
Someone else ended up calling the police, prompting DaBaby and his guests to flee the scene. The lawsuit states DaBaby took off with Pagar’s phone and his “valuable kitchenware.” Left behind, the suit claims, was thousands of dollars in damage. So far, DaBaby has only paid some of the rental bill, Yahoo! reports. The lawsuit also includes DaBaby’s manager, Kinsza Virgil.
The lawsuit states that DaBaby and his entourage took out a security camera to hide the more than 12 people they allegedly snuck into the home. Jake Paul was allegedly sitting in the car with DaBaby as a part of the music video shoot.
