CBS’s long-running crime staple Criminal Minds is getting a docu-series reboot on the network’s streaming platform.
According to Deadline, the true-crime reboot titled “The Real Criminal Minds” is in its early development stages for ViacomCBS’s streaming platform Paramount+. The platform is also planning a scripted revival of “Criminal Minds” with the original cast members as part of its rollout.
The docuseries will include a real former FBI profiler who will examine real cases and criminal behavior, illustrated by snippets from the fictional “Criminal Minds” show. A leading cast member of the original series is rumored to host the show.
The original scripted series that ran from 2005 to 2020 focused on a group of FBI criminal profilers who are members of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. The characters used behavioral analysis and profiling to crack various cases while dealing with their personal lives.
Paramount+ will launch in March. However, there is no release date for the docu-series as of yet.
