The last time you heard the name Richie Incognito, it probably related to the NFL bullying scandal that he and former teammate Jonathan Martin were involved in. Since being suspended and subsequently released from the Miami Dolphins in 2013, the offensive lineman has been looking for another chance to play in the NFL. This past season, he visited with several NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Denver Broncos, but he remained unsigned for the entire 2014 season. After spending the last one and a half seasons off the field, it looks like Incognito has finally gotten a second chance.Â
The Buffalo Bills announced this afternoon that they have agreed in principle to a one-year deal with Incognito. This means that the two parties have agreed to a deal but the specific terms are yet to be finalized.
Incognito will definitely add value for the Bills on the field, with head coach Rex Ryan calling him a “high priority addition”, but some fear that he may still be a distraction in the locker room. Hopefully he has learned his lesson and will treat his teammates, and others in general, with more respect from now on. Especially since the NFL seems to be on a mission to crack down on every little thing nowadays, he needs to tread lightly so as not to jeopardize his career again.
