Los Angeles Clippers point guard, Chris Paul, has just picked up a $25,000 fine for the comments he made against a referee. The ref being a female was just the icing on the media-circus cake.Â
The Clippers received 5 technical fouls against the Cavaliers on Thursday, with Paul receiving his own flagrant and technical fouls.  Chris Paul vented his frustration with the refs, especially rookie ref Lauren Holtkamp who he said made terrible calls and that officiating may not be for her, Certain media outlets played it up as if Chris Paul was being sexist but Michele Roberts, executive director of NBA Players Association, issued a statement saying that couldn’t be any more false.Â
“Any suggestion that Chris Paul would ever conduct himself manner towards women is utterly ridiculous, outrageous and patently false,” said Roberts, “His personal management team, which includes several accomplished women who play a major role in nearly all of his business affairs, is alone evidence of that fact.”Â
Chris Paul’s comments landed him a $25k fine, the standard in situations like this, female referee or not.Â
