On Saturday, House Democrats passed the next relief bill, which includes a third stimulus check distributed to taxpayers and dependents.
With the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, taxpayers are eligible for another $1,400 payment. To receive the next stimulus check, individuals cannot earn more than $75,000 yearly in adjusted gross income. Married couples who earn up to $150,000 combined will receive $1,400 each, plus $1,400 for each of their dependents. For instance, an eligible family of four will receive $5,600 total. People who earn over $100,000 per year and couples making a combined $200,000 AGI per year will not receive a check.
What is different this time around is the fact that adult dependents now qualify for the payments. Approximately 26 million more citizens, including college students, disabled adults, and elderly Americans, will be eligible for a check.
Many have been critical of President Joe Biden for failing to raise the checks to $2,000, which he vowed during his campaign. However, Democratic leaders insist that the $1,400 payments combined with the $600 distributed in January fulfill the $2,000 promised to Americans.
