According to the New York Post, Jenna Piscitello, who has been working with the FDNY for over 7 years, remains committed to her job.
“I have a very deep passion for what I do,” Piscitello told the news outlet. “This incident isn’t going to ever stop from me continuing to be as compassionate as I am with people.”
The attack, which she admitted was “a little traumatizing,” happened on Friday in Brooklyn after Piscitello and her crew responded to a call for a person with “altered mental status.”
When they arrived on the scene, they found a 17-year-old girl, out of control, who was trying to run out of the house and kept falling.
Piscitello said the teen didn’t seem threatening until the first responders tried to get her onto a stretcher.
“She just wrapped her legs around my torso, her arms around my neck, and just took a nice big chomp out of my face,” Piscitello recalled. “She was like on me for almost a minute. It felt like an eternity.”
Piscitello remembers the feeling of pain as she felt the teen “tugging at my face.”
“The pain was like insane,” she explained. “I literally felt her teeth going into my flesh. Like a saw just cutting into me.”
The brave woman continued to work on the teen, not realizing how badly she was injured, until her partner informed her that another ambulance had been called for her.
Piscitello received 4 stitches in her face and is scheduled to meet with a plastic surgeon on Monday. The teenage girl was taken into custody and charged with assault in the second degree and assault with intent to cause physical injury.
