Rising hip-hop star Foogiano has been arrested after burning off his ankle monitor last year and going on the run.
News of the 1017 rapper abandoning his ankle monitor made the news back in December when the device was located alongside a Barrow County highway in Georgia. The straps had visible burns on them. Since the discovery, law enforcement officers had not been able to catch up with him.
On Thursday, he was apprehended in Memphis, Tennessee, and booked into the Shelby County Jail. He has since been charged with being a fugitive from justice without a warrant. Foogiano, whose real name is Kwame Brown, was originally ordered to wear the ankle monitor following an arrest for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. That arrest was a violation of his probation, which he was on due to a prior burglary charge from 2015.
Foogiano’s arrest comes just days after news began to circulate that his girlfriend, rapper Renni Rucci, would join the Love & Hip-Hop franchise, though it is unclear his role will be in the show.
