Three people are dead after a single-engine plane crashed in a residential neighborhood shortly after taking off Monday.
A doorbell camera captured the moment when the plane fell from the sky and crashed into a car that was traveling down the street in a Pembroke Pines community. The plane can be seen skidding down the road before bursting into flames. Both passengers of the Beechcraft Bonanza, who have not been identified, perished in the crash. The occupants of the car were Megan Bishop and her 4-year-old son Taylor Bishop. Megan was able to get out of the vehicle. However, Taylor was trapped until authorities arrived. Sadly, Taylor has since died from his injuries. Megan remains hospitalized with severe injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are working to determine what caused the plane to crash shortly after taking off around 3:00 p.m. from North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Pembroke Pines Fire Chief Marcel Rodriguez believes that a mechanical problem could have caused the plane to clip a power line and go down.
“We went out and saw the fire; everything was on fire outside. It was like a bomb,” Fernandez told the Sun Sentinel.
Broward Teachers Union confirmed that Megan is an employee of theirs. She works as a paraprofessional at Hollywood Hills Elementary.
