Nicki Minaj’s Mother Files $150 Million Lawsuit In Father’s Hit-and-Run Death

Nicki Minaj’s mother, Carol Maraj, is suing the man charged with killing her husband and the rapper’s father.
Her attorneys announced the news on Instagram.

“Paul Napoli and I (Ben Crump) have filed a $150 million lawsuit in the hit-and-run death of Robert Maraj, @nickiminaj’s father,” the post read.
For those who do not know, last month, Robert Maraj lost his life in a hit-and-run accident in Nassau County, New York, while walking alongside Long Island Road.

According to police, reported by Daily Mail, the driver “‘exited his vehicle, stood over the victim, asked him if ‘he was ok,'” and then fleed the scene.

The driver, identified as Charles Polevich, eventually turned himself in. His behavior is being described as “criminal and cowardly.”

“After striking Maraj, Polevich left the accident scene and did not call for emergency services to render to aid Miraj,” the post continued. “He was not only irresponsible and negligent but more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help.”

Polevich was very-much concerned with hiding. According to Daily Mail, after hitting Maraj, 64, he avoided “interactions and concealed his vehicle in the detached garage at his residence.”

With the help of street surveillance, police could track down Polevich at his home, where they located the damaged car. It was not guilt that made Polevich surrender; he was simply just caught.

Polevich, 70, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a person’s death and tampering with or suppressing physical evidence; both are felonies.

“He was absolutely aware of what happened,” Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick said. “He looked at the deceased and made the conscious decision to leave instead of dialing 911, instead of calling an ambulance for the man. He went home and secreted the vehicle, so he is well aware of what he did.”

Police also noted that the Guam businessman would have foregone criminal charges if he stayed at the scene.

Minaj has yet to speak out publicly about her father’s death.
