A 35-year-old man has been charged with capital murder in the death of a 6-year-old relative.
According to the local news station KPRC-TV, the victim’s family members have identified her as Laurionne Walker.
Around 11:30 am, police officers in Pasadena responded to a call of a shooting at an apartment complex. Walker was found shot multiple times, and authorities arrested Raymeon Means in connection with her murder.
Mauricio Alvarez, a neighbor, told the news station that they saw Means walking around the apartment complex often and not long before the shooting, PEOPLE reported.
“He knocked on the door, and he was like, “Oh, can you check if you have water coming down because the little girl clogged the toilet,'” Alvarez said.
Shortly after, Alvarez heard Means arguing with other neighbors.
“[The family member] was banging on a car. The woman upstairs had a knife, and they were saying, ‘Get out of here. Get out of here!’ ” Alvarez said. “[Later] he went running upstairs, and we heard like four to five shots, and he started running, and we started hearing screams.”
The young girl was transported to the hospital, where she later died.
“I’m at a loss for words right now,” Earline House, Walker’s grandmother, told the news station. “My granddaughter was still a baby. She got shot twice in the chest this morning.”
It’s unknown how the girl is related to Means, but authorities say the argument stemmed from spilled milk.
