Spring breakers have officially taken over Miami, so much so that the 8 p.m. curfew has been extended through April.

As reported in previous weeks, Miami-Dade County was very-much concerned with the potential spread of coronavirus, especially since Florida eliminated its mask mandate.

While many parties are to blame for the large crowd gatherings, Miami Beach authorities are profiling and blaming Black people.

According to Daily Mail, Black crowds are ‘”overwhelming’ the city with unruly behavior,” and Stephen Hunter Johnson, chairman of Miami-Dade’s Black Affairs Advisory Committee, is “very disappointed” in the measures to prohibit behavior.

Hunter explained that “when they’re young black people [on South Beach], the response is, ‘Oh my God, we have to do something.”

However, after the racism allegations, the department decided to take a step back. No pepper spray or other aggressive tactics will be allowed. “These aren’t your typical spring breakers,” Interim City Manager Raul Aguila said.

Over the last few weeks, crowds have continually gathered way past curfew, consistently breaking the rules and defying officers.

So far, more than 1,000 arrests have been made.

“Our city in this area has become a tinder,” Miami Mayor Dan Gelber said at a press conference Saturday. “And we can’t have a policy of simply hoping it’s not lit.”
