Joe Biden and Barack Obama reportedly still talk; Biden often takes advice from the former president.

Biden still keeps up with his longtime bestie Barack. On Monday, a White House top spokesperson said the two regularly talk on the phone. “They were not just the president and vice president,” Jen Psaki said. “They are friends.” She added, “I would expect that continues through the course of President Biden’s presidency.”

Psaki also said, “They consult and talk about a range of issues and I would expect that continues through the course of President Biden’s presidency.”

“That can be done over the phone it turns out, and I think if President Obama had been here, you would all know,” she added.

One of those topics is Obama’s Affordable Care Act, which Biden recently expanded. Biden’s plan was “consolidating, protecting, improving, and building upon the kind of health care that we need,” Obama said previously. “But we’ve still got more work to do — even with the American Rescue Plan,” he continued. “Our success in the past should not be a source of complacency, but rather an inspiration to keep going until every single person in America has the kind of coverage that they need.”

On Monday, a reporter asked Psaki if Obama ever planned to help Biden out in his administration, specifically as a possible advocate of the Affordable Care Act. “I expect…it’s an issue they’ll talk about,” Psaki said, “given former President Obama’s work on the Affordable Care Act [and] President Biden’s commitment to expanding access to healthcare throughout his presidency.”
