A man was kicked off a Spirit Airlines flight after he tried to open an exit door mid-air.
Spirit Airlines flight 185 was on its way to Los Angeles from Cleveland when crew members had to restrain a passenger who attempted to open an exit door, NBC Los Angeles reports. According to another passenger, the man went into the plane’s bathroom and then reemerged shirtless and then tried to open the exit door.
The entire incident was captured on video. In the footage, you can see crew members trying to hold the man down. The plane’s trip had to be diverted, and the man was dropped off in Denver. After being delayed for about three hours in Denver, the plane eventually made its way to Los Angeles International Airport after midnight.
“It is important to note that opening a door inflight is impossible due to air pressure inside the cabin pinning the door against its frame with force stronger than any person could ever overcome,” Spirit Airlines said in a statement. “Safety is our number one priority at Spirit Airlines. Law enforcement met the aircraft in Denver and took the passenger into custody. We thank the crew members and Guests who assisted in handling this situation quickly prior to arrival.”
There are no other details out right now about the man. However, another video showed the man being transported on a gurney by paramedics.
