Niecy Nash Says She’d ‘Never Been With A Woman Before’ Her Wife Jessica Betts: ‘I Love Who I Love’

Actress and comedian Niecy Nash never dated a woman before being with her wife, Jessica Betts.

Nash, 51, is living her best life with her “hersband” Jessica Betts. Nash sat down with the ladies of Facebook Watch’s “The Red Table Talk” and detailed how dating a woman was a completely new experience for Betts. People reports that Nash previously married two men and had “never been with a woman.”

Nash said her children all had different reactions. “My daughters were like, ‘Wait, what?’ “Nash explained. “My youngest daughter, she reminded me, she was like, ‘Wait a minute, mom, are you the same mom that was like girl, I’m strictly dickly?’ And I was like, ‘Wah, wah. Like yeah, but no.'”

“And my son was like, ‘Wooow,'” the actress said.

Nash and Betts tied the knot back in August 2020. Earlier this month, the actress went to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and opened up about falling for her wife. She also spoke about how people were thrown off by her significant other being a woman.

“A lot of people say that, like, ‘Oh, you came out!’ and I say, ‘Well, from out of where?’ You know what I mean?” Nash said. “I wasn’t anywhere to come out of. I wasn’t living a sexually repressed life when I was married to men; I just loved them when I loved them. And now I love her.”

Nash added that her marriage has everything to do with how she feels and not the person’s gender. “[My marriage] has absolutely nothing to do with gender, and it has everything to do with her soul,” said Nash.” She is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life.”

“I was not suppressing my sexuality my whole life,” she continued. “I love who I love. At one point in my life, I married twice, and I love those people. And today, I love this person. I’ve done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way. So my choice now in a partner has nothing to do with who I’ve always been. It’s a matter of who I am in this moment.”
