As cannabis consumption gains wider acceptance, the Food Network is looking to capitalize by debuting a 420 friendly cooking show.
The network is adding Chopped 420 to its lineup, a spin-off of the popular cooking show Chopped, Deadline reports. The concept remains the same: four chefs compete through three courses, including appetizer, main dish, and dessert, using baskets of ingredients. The chefs will also be tasked with incorporating cannabis into the meal. The contestants will compete for a $10,000 prize.
Comedian Ron Funches has been tapped to host the new series. Chefs Esther Choi, Luke Reyes, Sam Talbot, drag performer and cannabis activist Laganja Estranja, and comedian Tacarra Williams will serve as judges.
Chopped 420 will begin streaming on Discovery+ on April 20 to coincide with the stoner holiday, “420.”
Although still illegal on a federal level, 36 states have legalized medical marijuana use, and 16 have decriminalized it.
