An off-duty Pentagon Force Protection Agency police officer has been charged with second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of two people in Maryland.

According to ABC News, David Hall Dixon allegedly shot 32-year-old Dominique Williams and 38-year-old James Lionel Johnson in a parking lot of the Takoma Overlook Condominiums early Wednesday, Takoma Park police said.

Law enforcement officials said an off-duty Pentagon Force Protection Agency officer approached the Takoma Park police and told them he had seen what he believed was a car break-in and “engaged the suspects who failed to follow his direction,” according to the press release.

When the men the officer believed were “suspects” tried to “flee” in a vehicle, he “discharged his service weapon,” Takoma Park police said then.

The two men shot were rushed to the hospital and died from their injuries, police said.

Dixon was also charged with second-degree attempted murder for shooting the driver of the vehicle he fired into. He also faces three counts for the use of a handgun in commission of a felony and two counts of reckless endangerment, police said.
