Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was caught going 61 in a 35 MPH zone at around 1 AM and pulled over. According to the Denver Post, “the officer noted that Lawson’s speech was slurred, his breath had a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage, his balance was swaying/stumbling, and his eyes were bloodshot/watery.” They asked him to do a field sobriety test, which he failed. When he refused to take a breathalyzer test, he was arrested and taken to Denver’s Downtown Detention Center. Lawson was released on bond hours later.
The Nuggets have declined to comment and there is no word yet on whether or not he will suit up for tonight’s game against the Celtics.Â
