A Brooklyn man was arrested for his alleged involvement in three anti-Asian hate crime incidents within the span of one month.
According to CNN, Joseph Russo faces 23 charges stemming from the three incidents. The charges range from felony charges of assault and criminal negligence as a hate crime to lesser charges of menacing and harassment.
The first incident took place on March 5, when Russo allegedly pushed a 64-year old Asian female to the ground, causing her bodily injury.
The second incident happened on March 22nd when Russo allegedly pulled the hair of a 32-year-old Asian woman so violently she suffered “pain to her head and neck,” police said.
Last Monday, the last incident happened when Russo allegedly pushed a 77-year-old Asian man to the ground in front of a supermarket in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood in Brooklyn.
Russo is now being held on $100,000 bail.
