Former one-term President Donald Trump took another opportunity to lash out at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in a lengthy rant at an event on Saturday night as he addressed a crowd of Republican donors at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
According to NBC News, Trump reportedly called the top Republican leader a “dumb son of a b—-” and a “stone-cold loser” during his rant in which he made sure to repeat his unsubstantiated claims of electoral victory last fall.
Trump also told the crowd he was “disappointed” his former vice president Mike Pence affirmed the Electoral College votes. Then he said a “real leader” never would have accepted the electoral results.
“If that were [Senate Majority Leader Chuck] Schumer instead of this dumb son of a b—- Mitch McConnell, they would never allow it to happen,” Trump told the audience. “They would have fought it.”
Trump also mocked McConnell’s wife, the former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who resigned from his administration shortly after the Capitol riots on January 6th.
“I hired his wife. Did he ever say thank you?” Trump said sarcastically, before mockingly saying, “She suffered so greatly,” Trump continued.
