Months after a woman posted a photo of herself with two black eyes and claimed Swae Lee was responsible, the Rae Sremmurd duo is speaking out about what they say happened that night.
In a recent interview with Shay Diddy on 106 KMEL, Swae Lee and his brother Slim Jxmmi gave their account of the evening, according to HipHopDX. They said the night started at a show, where a group of fans caught their attention in the crowd. The rapper had previously denied the accusations made online.
The brothers said they had different plans for the after show. Swae Lee says he was interested in one particular fan, while Slim Jxmmi had something else in mind that did not work out.
“When we was leaving the show I said, I bet that girl will suck us up in the Uber on the way back, but then it didn’t work that way because she started talking,” Slim Jxmmi said. “So when we got back to the hotel, I just left her in the lobby because I went to my room and started playing PlayStation.”
According to Swae Lee, that left him with several guests in his room.
“He left all the girls in my room and I just wanted one girl and then I had all these third wheels in the room with me,” Swae Lee said. “I dozed off and then she took the picture then, it’s cool though, I ain’t tripping.”
Slim Jxmmi added that next time, his brother may want to keep a closer eye on his phone and belongings when guests come over.
The woman who posted the photo has her own account of events, and we have only the duo’s version from this interview. Baller Alert has not independently confirmed what happened that night.
In the same interview, the brothers also talked about people questioning how much Swae Lee contributed to Beyonce’s single “Formation.” They said they were unbothered by the chatter.
“It’s like unreal because I’m just thinking it’s just another song I did,” Swae Lee said of the hit. “And then for someone of that status to pick it up and want to record it, it’s just big man.”
