Michael Sullivan, the half-brother of rap duo Rae Sremmurd was indicted for the first-degree murder of their father, Floyd Sullivan Jr., earlier this year.
Sullivan Jr was the father of Michael and the stepfather of the rappers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, raising the young men since they were boys.
Swae recently opened up about the tragic death of his family’s patriarch on his new Snapchat series “Swae Meets World.”
He described the death of Floyd as “like something out of a movie.” And he’s released a clip showing footage of himself and his mother Bernadette Walker calling Michael in jail.
In the clip of the recorded phone call, Michael is heard on speakerphone saying, “I wish I was out,” with Swae responding, “Me too, everybody do.”
Swae’s mother then asks Michael to “say what was going through your head about that night.” Swae and Bernadette are then seen listening as Michael tells them his thoughts in a brief response.
“I was hearing voices, and I thought dad was trying to make me kill myself,” Michael reveals. “Like, my stomach was hurting. I couldn’t eat, really, and different stuff like that,” he said.
Bernadette Walker previously told TMZ that Michael suffered from Schizoaffective disorder. He could face a potential life sentence for the death of his father.
In the premiere episode, Swae spoke candidly about the struggles many have faced to maintain their mental health during the pandemic.
“Everybody struggled in 2020, but it wasn’t just the pandemic for me. It was more than that,” he said. “My dad, my pops, passed away recently. I have three brothers, [and] allegedly the police say my youngest brother…He shot my dad, like, killed my dad. And it’s like, my brother killed my dad. That shit is like unbelievable, like you can’t even imagine. It’s like something out of a movie, you know. I’m still dealing with it like I don’t even know how to deal with it all the way completely, Swae explained.
