According to prosecutors, another New York man was arrested for his suspected involvement in the siege at the United States Capitol after law enforcement discovered that he discussed storming the building on social media and a dating app.

Robert Chapman of Carmel, Putnam County, was arrested by the FBI yesterday in connection with the events of January 6. He is currently being charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct on restricted government property.

In the days after Jan. 6, the FBI obtained details about Chapman’s social media messages; prosecutors claimed he was seen in posts in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall.

According to court documents, he also told a woman he met on the dating app Bumble that “I did storm the capitol” and that he “made it all the way into Statuary Hall.”

In addition to the Bumble contact, the FBI was made aware of a Facebook post in which another person posted a picture of Chapman appearing to be inside the Capitol with the caption, “My Dear friend and Brostar Robert made it in the Capitol building at the protest yesterday …. Woo Hooooooooo!!!!”

In the comments, a “Robert Erick,” who investigators believe to be Chapman, wrote, “these are your peers? colleagues? they are a bunch of little b*tch trolls. keyboard warriors who don’t do a f*cking thing.”

In another post written the day before and during the day of the insurrection, “Robert Erick” posted that he was leaving New York.

The post read, “the rotten apple. Gonna go down to the District of Criminality to Enjoy some much deserved entertainment.”

He tweeted the next day that he was “INSIDE THE CRAPITOL!!!” and included pictures of himself posing inside the structure.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s bodycam footage also showed a video of Chapman in Statuary Hall.

According to authorities, Chapman had been detained in New York in 2017. While it was unclear what he was charged with at the time, state police were able to locate Chapman with the help of federal authorities.

Chapman appeared in federal court in White Plains via teleconference yesterday afternoon. According to a spokeswoman for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, he was ordered released on his own recognizance.
