An Englishman was sentenced to three years in prison for impersonating MMA fighter Conor McGregor while selling drugs.
Mark Nye, 34, told officers his name was Conor during a traffic stop last February. The cops observed him trying to get rid of drugs and two cell phones. A search of his vehicle turned up hundreds of business cards for “McGregor Enterprise,” which Nye used while dealing drugs.
A subsequent search of the Nye’s home turned up boric acid, a chemical used as a cutting agent for narcotics. His cellphone also turned up hundreds of texts detailing his drug dealing activity.
Nye pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to supply class A drugs and was sentenced in Guildford Crown Court on April 9.
The real Conor McGregor has also had his fair share of run-ins with the law. In 2018 he was sentenced to anger management classes and five days of community service after throwing a metal trolley at a bus carrying rival UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov.
A year later, he pleaded guilty to punching a man in a Dublin pub and fined £860. He subsequently bought the pub and banned the elderly man.
