The production company behind the Framing Britney Spears documentary is working on a project about the 2004 Janet Jackson Super Bowl halftime show wardrobe malfunction.
Left/Right TV is working on a documentary that will focus on the fallout after the incident. Janet Jackson found her career stalled while Justin Timberlake was able to capitalize off the moment.
“It’s going to be all about the fallout and the suits who f–ked over Janet [at] Viacom,” the company that owned MTV — which produced the halftime show — and CBS, which broadcast the game,” a source told Page Six. “They’re reaching out to everyone who was involved: dancers, stylists, directors. Everyone.”
The production company is once again working with the New York Times, and it will air on FX and Hulu. It wasn’t made clear if either Jackson or Timberlake are involved; however, it is unlikely given Jackson is working on a doc of her own.
The wardrobe malfunction has once again found its way into the headlines following the Britney Spears documentary. Timberlake publicly apologized to Spears and also to Jackson. After Timberlake’s apology, Jackson’s former stylist Scot Lukas, who designed the costume, claimed that Timberlake actually orchestrated the wardrobe malfunction to one-up Spears.
“He insisted on doing something bigger than [when Spears kissed Madonna at the MTV Video Music Awards]. He wanted a reveal,” Lukas said.
