Lawyers Say Andrew Brown Jr.'s Killing Was "Cold-Blooded" After New Body Cam Video Was Released

Seven police officers are on administrative leave while authorities investigate the fatal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. He was shot and killed outside his home while the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office was carrying out a drug-related arrest warrant on Wednesday.

In a press conference, Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooton II promised to be transparent about the shooting.

“If any of my deputies broke any laws or violated any policies that come out through this investigation, they will be held accountable,” said Wooton.

The 42-year-old Black man was shot outside his North Carolina home last week when officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant. Deputies opened fire on Brown’s car as he tried to drive away from the officers.

After being shot, Brown lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred just one day after former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all charges for the murder of George Floyd last May.
