#MichaelOher and the #CarolinaPanthers have reached a deal that will extend Oher’s run as a Panther into the 2019 season. The Offensive Lineman signed a 3 –year extension Friday morning worth $21.6 million with $8 million fully guaranteed.
If you are wondering why Michael Oher’s name may ring a bell, he is the Ole Miss player that inspired the movie “Blindside” starring Sandra Bullock.
The former Baltimore Ravens player and Super Bowl champ signed with the Panthers organization last season. Earlier in June, he told the Charlotte Observer that a contract extension “would show that the organization believes in me. I still have to prove myself. I’m Still just trying to probe myself to them and just make sure I am one of these guys because they do it right.”
It appears that the team believes in Oher. Oher tweeted this week, “[I’m] very thankful, but even more motivated and will grind that much harder.“
The Panthers are continually strengthening #CamNewton’s blindside (no pun intended). The stronger the O-Line, the better Cam Newton or any quarterback can perform. Even the most lack-luster QB’s have better seasons with a strong O-Line. Just think what the NFL MVP can accomplish if his O-Line is solid. Look at what Newton did last season. The weakened O-Line played a considerable role in Super Bowl 50’s performance by the Panthers.
