There has always been a battle between the Eastern and Western Conferences in the SEC. Fans and many sports analysts all claim the West is better than the East. They also claimed the West has the better of the bowl games.
Now, after all their bowl games are over the numbers are the opposite of what people thought. The West may have had the better games, but they were not to successful.
Overall the Western Conference of the SEC were 2-5 in bowl games in 2014-2015. All 7 teams made it to bowl game this season, including the semi-final playoff game featuring Alabama vs Ohio State game, which Alabama lost 35-42. The two winning teams from the West were Texas A&M who beat West Virginia 45-37 and Arkansas who beat Texas 31-7. The other four teams who lost are as followed: LSU 28 – Norte Dame 31, Ole Miss(9) 3 – TCU(6) 42, Mississippi St.(7) 34 – Georgia Tech(12) 49, Auburn(19) 31 – Wisconsin(18) 34 in overtime.
Even though all 7 teams from the East not making bowl games (Kentucky and Vanderbilt did not), the 5 teams who did all won. The final scores from those games are; South Carolina 24 – Miami(FL) 21, Georgia(13) 37 – Louisville(21) 14, Missouri(16) 33 – Minnesota(25) 17, Florida 28 – East Carolina 20 and Tennesse 45 – Iowa 28.
The Eastern Conference of the SEC may have not had the better bowl games this season but they did come out with the better record in those games. And no SEC team made the main goal of the National Championship Game that will be on January 12.
