Master P has now added “Dr.” to his name. The rap mogul received his honorary doctorate degree last week.
On Friday, the No Limit Records founder received his doctorate degree in humane letters from Lincoln University, a public historically black college near Oxford, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1854 as Ashmun Institute and was the nation’s first degree-granting HBCU.
The 51-year-old was just one of over 400 graduates and six valedictorians at the ceremony. Jay-Z’s mother and co-founder of the Shawn Carter Foundation, Gloria Carter, Civil rights attorney Ben Crump and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson also received an honorary degree during the graduation.
The “Bout It, Bout It” MC took to Instagram on Monday to share his latest accomplishment and offer a few words of inspiration.
“I guess I got to change my name to Dr. P. Miller. From the projects to getting a Doctoral degree from @lincolnuniversityofpa. Don’t be afraid to change, grow and educate yourself. I did it ! You can do it.”
Master P has been rooting for HBCU’s and has vowed to open his own in the near future. His son, Hercy Miller, has also committed to playing basketball at an HBCU, Tennessee State University.
