Some of these “fans” are getting bolder and bolder. While it’s cool to root for a certain team, it’s not cool to be disrespectful.
During game two of an already heated playoff series between the New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks, a Knicks fan sitting courtside went out of his way to do the unfathomable by spitting at Hawk’s point guard Trae Young.
Young’s had a stellar performance while playing at Madison Square Garden, so much so that he’s become public enemy number 1 against those rooting for the Knicks.
Apparently, while Young was inbounding the ball in the fourth quarter, what appears to be spit from the stands lands near him. Young was too focused on the game to notice what happened, but the incident was caught on camera.
Fans immediately reacted to the disgrace, Complex reported.
Young chose to highlight the incident instead of taking it to the next level on social media. He also tagged 50 Cent, who just so happened to be at the game and near the incident, asking if he was good.
A similar thing happened to Russell Westbrook. While he was walking to the locker room to get treated for an injury, a fan from the opposing team dumped popcorn on his head.
In addition to this event, Young’s father, Rayford Young, urges the NBA to get things “under control.”
“Gotta get this under control. @russwest44 gets popcorn thrown on him & @TheTraeYoung gets spat on,” he tweeted. “I can deal with all the chants about my son; it comes with it. But this needs to be addressed.”
