The IRS is reportedly continuing to distribute federal stimulus checks to eligible Americans, with another 2.3 million in payments issued on Wednesday.
According to CBS News, some of those payments include “plus-up” adjustments for people who received less money than they were actually entitled to in earlier issued checks.
The latest batch of payments is part of the Biden administration’s efforts as per the American Rescue Plan to deliver $1,400 to each eligible adult and child. On Wednesday, the IRS announced that it has now delivered more than 169 million payments worth $395 billion, with the last round of checks amounting to a total of $4.2 billion.
900,000 checks sent out of the $2.3 million payments were to people who recently filed a tax return and for whom the tax agency didn’t previously have information to issue their money. Another 1.1 million payments were adjustments for people who qualified for bigger checks based on recently processed 2020 tax returns, the IRS said.
