Actress and rapper Queen Latifah will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s B.E.T. Awards.
The Academy Award-nominated star will become the third-youngest solo act to receive the honor at age 51. Whitney Houston was 37 when she received the award at the first B.E.T. Awards in 2001. Mary J. Blige was the second youngest, receiving the honor at age 48 two years ago.
Latifah’s roles in such classics as the hit sitcom “Living Single” and the blockbuster hit “Set It Off” have solidified her position as Hollywood royalty. Not to mention her iconic rap career that spawned significant records such as “U.N.I.T.Y.” and “Wrath of My Madness” before she traded in her microphone for red carpets.
The Queen is keeping busy these days, recently signing on to star in Netflix’s forthcoming thriller, “End of the Road,” alongside fellow MC Ludacris.
The 2021 B.E.T. Awards, hosted by fellow actress Taraji P. Henson, will air on Sunday, June 27th, at 8:00 PM. The theme for this year’s ceremony is “Year Of The Black Woman,” with performances by Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion, Rapsody, and several others.
