Young Dolph has settled his legal friction over the Juicy J-produced and Megan Thee Stallion featured track, “RNB.”

In March 2020, Dolph released his collaborative track with Meg called “RNB.” The song was featured on the rapper’s Rich Slave project and ended up being a hit for both artists. However, the two were slapped with a $600,000 lawsuit a year later from Midnight Syndicate’s music group, claiming the two ripped off the melody from one of their songs, HotNewHipHop reports.

The goth band claimed Juicy J jacked the sound from their song “Noterm Aeternus” and used 94 percent of the recording to create Dolph and Meg’s “RNB.” The group reportedly says they were never contacted and no one ever sought to license or their permission.

“Defendants’ acts of infringement were and are willful because Defendants Juicy J and/or Young Dolph (in concert with one or more of the other Defendants) knew they did not own the Copyrighted Noctem Aeternus Recording and Copyrighted Noctem Aeternus Composition, yet they still created ‘RNB’ (feat. Megan Thee Stallion) entirely based on Plaintiff’s copyrights without Plaintiff’s permission and without ever seeking permission,” the original complaint filed by the group’s lawyer read.

“Defendants’ sample was not merely a few seconds but lasted for the entire duration of ‘RNB (feat. Megan Thee Stallion),'” it continued. Initially, the group demanded the song be pulled from record stores and streaming platforms until a deal was reached.

But, last week, a judge over the case dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice, which means the lawsuit can no longer be refiled, the news outlet reports. None of the details of the cast will be publicized as the case settlement is confidential.
