O.J. Simpson will have to continue to pay Ron Goldman’s family in a new settlement.
According to Fox Business, Simpson and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas have decided that a settlement would go to the family of Ron Goldman, the man who was killed along with Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole back in 1994.
The news outlet reports this move comes after Simpson settled his defamation suit with the hotel back in April. Initially, Simpson sued the hotel in 2019, claiming they allegedly damaged his reputation after being removed from the property during an isolated incident in which the former NFL star was drunk at the hotel’s bar in November 2017.
The situation involved Simpson allegedly being drunk and becoming angry with the hotel staff, leading to broken glass. While he says the staff defamed him, the employees and hotel clapped back in their suit, saying the Simpson has already messed up his image after his infamous and controversial 1996 trial over his ex-wife’s murder.
Simpson ended up being found liable for Nicole and Goldman’s deaths and was ordered to pay more than $33 million, which was later increased to $55 million. So far, only $133,000 of it has been paid. According to a court filing, the settlement was reached; however, the money was “assigned to Goldman’s family and ordered to be “immediately turned over to Goldman’s counsel, Larson A. Welsh, Esq,” earlier this month, according to KLAS.
