More than 70 units in a Kissimmee, Florida condominium were determined to be unsafe on Wednesday after a building inspector found that walkways leading to the units were at risk of collapsing.
According to The Hill, Osceola County spokesperson Chris Brumbaugh said that 72 units within the Images Condominiums in Kissimmee were found to be unsafe after consultants from an engineering firm determined that a walkway was “in danger of collapse.”
The condo’s residents were advised to enter the building at their own risk. Osceola County staff and partners were present at the building site to help residents locate temporary housing in the meantime.
According to Brumbaugh, Images of Condominiums was built in 1990, and the engineering report was put together on behalf of the condominium’s management company.
This report comes one week after the deadly collapse of the Champlain Towers South condominium building in Surfside, Fla., that left at least 18 people dead, and more than 140 people remain unaccounted for as officials continue to search the rubble.
