Haiti’s Communications Secretary Frantz Exantus announced on Twitter Wednesday evening that the local police had arrested the “presumed assassins” of President Jovenel Moïse.
Exantus did not provide details on how many suspects were in custody but tweeted that more details would be available on the country’s state television broadcaster.
According to RT, the unknown gunmen went to President Jovenel Moïse’s residence and accounted that they were agents of the US Drug Enforcement Agency, raided the home Wednesday morning, and then gunned him down. Moise’s wife Martine was flown to a Florida hospital in critical condition.
