Americans will have to wear masks indoors as cases of the Delta COVID-19 variant continue to grow, experts say.
Outside just opened back up, and now we might have to take our behinds right back inside as experts say the new Delta variant is growing rapidly in cases across the country. CNBC reports the country is headed toward a “dangerous” fall season in which the Delta variant is expected to cause a surge in Coronavirus cases.
Berkley Lovelace Jr. of CNBC also writes that the Delta variant will take its jab at states with the lowest vaccination rates. That is…unless the states roll back all the COVID-19 safety measures initially put in place this year and the last.
Scientists believe the virus will circulate the world for at least two to three years, CNBC reports. Some places, including Australia, South Africa, and Asia, have already brought back some curfews and measures.
“I could foresee that in certain parts of the country, there could be a reintroduction of indoor mask mandates, distancing and occupancy limits,” in the coming months, said Lawrence Gostin, director of the World Health Organization’s Collaborating Center on National and Global Health Law.
“We are heading for a very dangerous fall, with large swaths of the country still unvaccinated, a surging delta variant, and people taking off their masks,” Gostin added.
