A New Jersey woman abducted along with her son has been found dead in a wooded area in Tennessee. The 2-year-old boy was found alive, and the woman’s ex is now under arrest.
Tyler Rios, 27, was apprehended in Tennessee on Saturday. He is now facing a charge of first-degree kidnapping in connection to abducting his son, Sebastian Rios. Charges related to killing his ex, Yasemin Uyar, 24, are still pending.
An AMBER Alert was issued on Friday after the toddler did not show up to daycare and Uyar failed to show up for work. Police were able to identify Rios as a suspect quickly. The father and son were later found 15 hours after the alert was issued in Monterey, Tennessee. The boy was unharmed.
Uyar’s mother told CBS2 that Rios told authorities where he hid her body. Her remains were then located by police in a nearby wooded area.
According to Uyar’s friends, Rios has a history of abusing her. They also told the outlet that she had a restraining order against him.
“Typical textbook case of domestic violence. Progressively got worse, and this is where it’s ending,” said Robyn Morris, one of Uyar’s friends.
Rios is currently incarcerated in a Tennessee jail and is awaiting extradition back to New Jersey.
