Cedric the Entertainer just landed a new gig as the host of the 73rd Emmy Awards, which will air later this year.
The legendary “Kings of Comedy” star will curate the evening before a limited in-person audience at the Microsoft Theater. Ced is adding the Emmys to his long list of previous hosting engagements, including the Soul Train Awards, American Music Awards, the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, the NAACP Image Awards, and the TV Land Awards.
The 57-year-old is already a staple on CBS with his hit comedy series “The Neighborhood,” so tapping him to emcee the award show was a no-brainer for showrunners.
On Monday, he took to his Instagram to share the big news with fans, joking that the network probably only needed him to make announcements before revealing an envelope with his name on it as the host.
“Yeah, baby! I’m about to be hosting The Emmys,” he stated in the video before adding that he had to “get fly” and get Tom Ford on the line for his big night.
You can catch Cedric The Entertainer deliver the laughs and presenters live on September 19th.
