A mural painted on the outside of Hollywood’s The Laugh Factory has been vandalized.
According to the comedy club’s communications director, Greg Waskul, the mural was destroyed sometime this past weekend, on Sunday or Monday. This isn’t the first time the mural has been tampered with. According to WSPA 7 News, the mural has been vandalized five times in the past year.
Waskul said this is the worst the mural has ever been defaced. The mural features police-slain George Floyd and the names of other Black men and women who officers of the law have killed.
“It’s a lot of paint, a lot of work and a lot of hate,” Waskul said. He went on to say that The Laugh Factory has always been a place where all walks of life are welcomed. “That’s why it’s so hard this happened there,” he added. “It’s just sick. It’s a terrible thing.”
The Los Angeles Police Department is currently looking into the matter, the news outlet reports.
