A Black New York City model says she was ignored by employees while shopping in Saks Fifth Avenue.
Erica Wiltz went to Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City to look for some wedding shoes and ended up detailing how she allegedly experienced poor customer service during her time in the store.
“Went to #saksfifthavenue excited to buy @ jimmychoo wedding shoes & it turned out like this. #onblast #blackinamerica,” Wiltz said in the caption of her video. In her post – which has now garnered more than 875,000 views – Wiltz said she’d been waiting in the store for some time only for a white customer to be helped before her.
The young woman said she had to ask for help after a certain point. Wiltz said the entire situation brought her to tears. “Had to demand help but he’s still not getting my sale,” she said.
In a second video, Wiltz said she is a frequent shopper of the department store and usually has great experiences there. She added that she was “enthusiastic” about finding some shoes for the wedding she was attending, but her time spent was ruined by the store staff’s alleged neglect.
