It appears that karma hit Kenneth Manzanares hard after he was found dead in his jail cell after recently receiving 30-years for killing his wife.

The 43-year-old man accepted the hefty sentence for the 2017 brutal murder of his wife, 39-year-old Kristy Manzanares. The two were aboard the Emerald Princess cruise ship celebrating their anniversary. On July 25th, 2017, as the boat was docked in Juneau, Alaska, Kristy asked Kenneth for a divorce. Hearing the shocking demand, he asked their three daughters to leave the room and proceeded to beat Kristy to death.

Kenneth accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for second-degree murder along with five years of supervised release. His attorney, Jamie McGrady, argued that Kenneth’s Bipolar disorder, alcohol, prescription pill abuse, and brain damage from contact sports led him to attack his wife.

While few details have been released regarding his death, the Alaska Department of Corrections confirmed that Kenneth was found unresponsive last Wednesday in his cell at 6:59 a.m. and could not be revived despite life-saving measures.

No foul play is suspected at this time.
