Fletcher Cox Signs $103 Million Contract Extension with Eagles – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox has signed a 6-year contract extension with the team worth $103 million with a $63 million guarantee. The Eagles announced the news on Monday, after spending the past few months negotiating back and forth with the veteran lineman and his agent. According to ESPN, Cox’s contract extension with the Eagles gives him the highest guarantee ever for a non-quarterback in NFL history. Along with his hefty contract, Cox will also get a $26 million signing bonus. 

Cox, who was drafted in the first round by the Eagles in 2012, has been with the team for the past four seasons. He has proved to be one of the biggest playmakers for the Eagles, leading the defense last year in tackles for loss or no gain. Cox had previously said that he wanted to stay in Philadelphia for the long term and now, his contract extension will keep him there through the 2022 season.

Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who is currently going through his own contract negotiations with his team, will now be looking to use Cox’s contract to his advantage in order to try and get his own value up.
