DEA agents in Maine arrested a man and woman after they discovered a brick of cocaine disguised as a cake in their car.
According to CNN, agents acted on tips they received from anonymous sources and stopped a vehicle along I-295 on Tuesday.
A drug-sniffing K9 alerted the authorities to the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle, and they found four pounds of cocaine and about $1,900 in cash in the car that is believed to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.
MDEA Commander Peter Arno told CNN that some of the cocaine found was pressed into a block and wrapped in cake packaging, with coffee grounds spread on top of it in an attempt to throw the K9 off the scent.
The suspects were charged with aggravated trafficking in a schedule W Drug, a Class “A” offense, according to the MDEA. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison, Arno said.
