A video that went viral on social media showed a local news reporter in Rochester, New York, being harassed by a man as she and her crew were preparing to go live on the air.
Spectrum News reporter Brianna Hamblin posted the “disgusting” encounter she had with a man, who proceeded to rudely comment on her appearance in front of her co-workers while she was trying to prepare for a live news report.
Hamblin’s video has already received 5 million views on Twitter and shows the woman attempting to do her job while a man who doesn’t appear on camera requests not to be filmed.
After Hamblin and her cameraman confirm that they aren’t yet filming, the man compliments her, and then another bystander takes the compliments to another level.
“You look really nice, though,” a first man says before going on his way.
“You beautiful as hell. God damn,” the second man says before asking Hamblin why she’s on camera.
“Watch Spectrum News. You can find out. Go find a TV and watch Spectrum News. And you can find out.” Hamblin says as she tells him what channel he can find her on.
“You see, that’s why I can’t be left alone with a black woman or a mulatto chick. Cause I can’t stand these f—ing white girls,” the man tells her.
“Alright. We are done here,” Hamblin says politely. “Have a great rest of your day.”
But the man continued, “You are sexy as f–k,” the man proclaims as he left.
Hamblin appeared visibly uncomfortable and posted about her experience on Twitter.
“Being hit on and harassed as a woman, especially as a woman reporter out in the field, happens so often you learn how to roll with it or ignore it. This time it happened to be recorded only seconds before my hit. There are A LOT of things wrong with this,” she shared.
