The saga between Britney Spears and her father rages on. As promised, Spears filed legal documents in a Los Angeles court Monday to have her father removed from her conservatorship.Â
Spears’ new lawyer, Matt Rosengart, had nothing but praise for the pop star while speaking with reporters outside the courthouse. He again reaffirmed his goal to “aggressively” remove Jamie Spears from overseeing his daughter’s conservatorship.
TMZÂ reports that the legal documents allege Jamie has “terrorized” Britney and allowing harmful drug regimens and forcing her to receive specific treatments. What those treatments were have not been made public.
The filing also accuses Jamie of previously mishandling the family’s finances and filing for bankruptcy. They also allege that over the last 13 years, he has profited handsomely from the conservatorship.
Jamie gets $16,000 a month along with an additional $2,000 a month for office expenses. He was entitled to 1.5% of Britney’s $137.7 million Las Vegas residency. He also got 2.95% from her Femme Fatale tour, netting him an estimated $500,000.
The documents further allege that the toxic relationship between Britney and Jamie has taken a severe toll on her mental health.Â
According to the outlet, the filing does mention that Britney may have needed a conservatorship when it was put in place all those years ago, but that things have changed since then. “Since receiving professional medical care at the outset of this conservatorship over thirteen years ago, Ms. Spears is clearly in a different place now, and she has been for many years,” it reads.
Despite being an “exceptional earner” for Jamie, the docs quote Forbes in saying Britney’s net worth is “shockingly low.”Â
