Will Smith Portrays Venus and Serena Williams’ Father in New Film ‘King Richard’

The first trailer for the highly anticipated sports drama starring Will Smith as Richard Williams, the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, has been released.

In the Warner Brothers drama, Smith portrays Williams as a father who became instrumental in raising two gifted athletes who ended up changing the sport of tennis forever.

Smith is joined on screen by Saniyya Sidney as “Venus” and Demi Singleton as “Serena.”

In “King Richard,” Smith shows the clear focus, vision, and determination the Williams’ patriarch had for his daughters’ future. Taking them from the mean streets of Compton to the international stage of professional Tennis. 

“This world ain’t never had no respect for Richard Williams,” he tells his daughters in the trailer. “But they’re going to respect y’all.”

“King Richard” is set for release in theaters in the U.S. on November 19th. The film will also be available on HBO Max for 31 days after its theatrical release date.
