Idaho residents are having a hard time accepting an upcoming Nelly performance at their state fair.
The “Country Grammar” eye candy is set to take the North Idaho State Fair stage next month in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Despite tickets for the show selling quickly, many residents are not happy with having the rapper bring his less-than-conservative music to their fair.
In a blog post titled “Whoa Nelly,” on Redoubt News, a resident named Duane Rasmussen wrote that the Grammy-award-winning star is viewed as “a vile representation of what is currently wrong with America.”
A local pastor co-signed these sentiments, stating that the concert should be a “wake-up call” for residents and says that the fair’s commission made a poor choice by booking Nelly.
Other locals have complained that the 46-year-old “is glorifying the Pimp lifestyle” and should not be allowed to bring that to their community.
Nevertheless, the show must go on, and organizers are still planning on welcoming Nelly to the fairgrounds on August 23rd.
The rapper has not publicly commented on the matter.
